REPORTS TO: Regional Manager or District Manager

PURPOSE:
The sales account Manager position is to promote the sales of products and services to new customers as well as retaining and growing business with existing accounts. The position requires the ability to make an individual contribution to the growth of Econolite equipment and services across an assigned geographic territory.

DUTIES DEFINED:

  • Providing a prospect forecast of incoming business by product each month using the ACT software. The forecast must be received by the regional manager no later than 5 days prior to the first Wednesday of the fiscal month being forecasted.
  • Entering all opportunities into ACT on a weekly basis regardless of the sales stage or probability.
  • Booking sales orders equal to or greater than the monthly forecast as defined by the annual business plan for the sales office and/or account manager.
  • Maximizing the sales available in assigned territories or accounts.
  • Maintain high levels of customer relationships, support and satisfaction.
  • Assisting in the training of new and less experienced account managers or sales support staff
  • Assisting other sales personnel when required
  • Exercising sound judgment and control over those expense items, which account managers incur or can substantially influence.
  • Assisting in accurate sales forecasting, budgeting and planning process.
  • Assisting in new product/service introductions, remaining technologically up-to-date on both our own and our competitor’s offerings.
  • Supplying all documentation in a concise and timely manner for all customer purchase orders to avoid errors in production and delays in shipment.
  • Maintain accurate client files including all contacts, addresses, and phone numbers for each person within an agency with whom Econolite conducts business.
  • Must have a clear and concise understanding of how each department within a customer operates. Traffic Engineer, Transportation Management Manager and Purchasing.
  • If requested, providing at least one week in advance to the direct manager, a schedule of proposed customer calls and one week later, a detailed call report.
  • Cultivating and maintain relationships with local engineering consulting firms.
  • Cultivating and maintain relationships with local contractor firms.
  • Assisting and attending local industry trade shows.
  • Assisting in local product seminars for assigned customers on an as needed basis.
  • Occasional product presentations on new or existing products to internal management.
  • Utilizing internal resources at account level to assist in new business opportunities.
  • Performing other relevant duties as may be assigned.

BUSINESS TRAVEL:

  • Dependant on assigned territory but can vary from 0 days of overnight travel to 15 business days per month.
  • Mandatory for company sponsored and assigned events such as annual sales meetings etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years experience in government sales at a local and state level.
  • 3-5 years of transportation & traffic industry related experience.
  • Bachelors degree in order of preference: transportation engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, business , marketing, or related field or equivalent combination of formal education and directly related experience is required.

MANDATORY:

  • Must have a high ability to multitask.
  • Strong presentation skills and must be comfortable in all audience settings.
  • Must have strong social skills and the ability to cultivate and foster relationships at all levels.
