Autoscope Voltage Sensing Delay-on Relay

Voltage-Sensing Delay-On Relay adapts Autoscope systems to survive severe brownout conditions that exceed most traffic environmental specifications.

The Voltage-Sensing Delay-On Relay helps certain Autoscope units recover from severe power brownout conditions. This relay assembly only applies to Autoscope Solo® Pro II Machine Vision Processor (MVP) sensors with serial numbers before 009158 (Model 704120) and Autoscope Image Sensors (AIS-II) with serial numbers before 004913 (Model 706100).

A severe fluctuation in power voltage or a brownout can occur that is outside the NEMA TS2 voltage range specifications. Certain Autoscope units from early 2003 are susceptible to these severe brownout sequences. If the service voltage to the interface panel (nominally 120 VAC) should dip below 85 VAC during severe power brownout sequences and then recover to normal levels without going completely off, some equipment may not operate properly. The camera's electronic assembly could fail to return to normal operation after a partial power loss of this magnitude, however, not all sensors at a site may be affected.

This relay assembly applies to installations where manually cycling power restores normal operation of the sensors (please see Application Note AN2032 - rev. A or above - for more application details).

Recently built Autoscope Solo Pro II MVP sensors and Autoscope Image Sensors (AIS-II) have voltage sensing circuitry on-board to handle severe brownout power fluctuations. With these products, there is no need to add this relay.

Voltage-Sensing Delay-On Relay function is now a standard part of all recent Autoscope products. This relay assembly is not required for recent Autoscope installations.
