Centracs: South Denver Metropolitan Area
The Denver, CO metropolitan area is one of the fastest-growing regions in the United States. At the southern end of the Denver metropolitan area, in 2015, the transportation agencies of the cities of Littleton and Englewood, and the County of Arapahoe planned to upgrade their transportation management systems to address the growing driving populous and to increase ITS capabilities. In addition, due to the intercity commute patterns of the region, some of the Arapahoe County cities, which include Centennial, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Littleton wanted the opportunity to experience the enhanced cooperative regional management capabilities of a center-to-center communications environment.
Since Greenwood Village and Centennial installed Centracs® ATMS several years ago, and the successful deployment and resulting enhanced ITS capabilities were well documented, Littleton, Englewood, and Arapahoe County decided to deploy Centracs ATMS.
Englewood and Littleton will leverage the Centracs Server-to-Server module to take advantage of its cooperative operations and center-to-center communications capabilities. Through the Centracs Server-to-Server module, adjoining Centracs-deployed cities can seamlessly share data and manage arterial traffic across agency boundaries, helping enhance ITS capabilities exponentially.
This makes Centracs the ATMS of choice for five transportation agencies in the south Denver metropolitan region: Greenwood Village, Centennial, Littleton, Englewood, and Arapahoe County. All five agencies are long-time Econolite traffic management customers – nearly 20 years. The most important result is the improved performance of each agency’s transportation network and inter-agency collaboration for regional transportation solutions and improvements.
