In March 2024, the City of San Ramon, CA (City) awarded Econolite Systems, Inc. (ESI) the contract for the Citywide Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Upgrade project. A strategic portion of the Project is located at Bollinger Canyon Road between Dougherty Road North and Albion Road in San Ramon. ESI will upgrade the City’s ITS by replacing and improving existing field asset components and signal communications to enhance and improve transportation network monitoring and programming. As part of the project, ESI will install the infrastructure network to support the installation of detection camera sensors at 14 intersections as part of the City’s adaptive and SPM program, including along Bollinger Canyon Road from Dougherty Road to Albion Road. In addition, ESI will help complete the project in support of the City’s Fiber Optic Master Plan to expand the overall ITS Master Plan, as well as citywide communications and future networking requirements.

Citywide, ESI is responsible for the modification of existing traffic signal systems and the installation of new traffic signal interconnect systems including, but not be limited to, the protection of existing utilities and appurtenances; the installation of new pull boxes, conduit, cables and conductors; fiber optics equipment such as fiber optics cables, switches, hub switches, termination panels, small form-factor transceivers; excavating and backfilling; clearing and grubbing; abandoning, removing and salvaging or discarding of existing traffic signal interconnect, pull boxes, conduits, switches, and other traffic signal equipment shown on the plans; replacement of striping damaged during construction; minor concrete work; traffic control; and all other work necessary and any other items of work not mentioned above that are required by the Plans and the Technical Special Provisions.
