Real Fields Are Multi-Vendor. Most Platforms Are Not Built For That
Decades of procurement leave agencies operating signal controllers from many manufacturers across a single network.
An ATMS that only reads standard NTCIP 1202 objects can poll those controllers and edit basic timing, and not much else. The vendor specific capabilities that make a modern controller worth deploying, adaptive control, priority and preemption logic, high resolution data, stay locked behind a driver the platform never built.
Centracs was built to reach them. It treats a mixed field as one system, then opens up the standard and the proprietary capabilities of each controller in it.
Not All Interoperability is Equal
Interoperability runs on a spectrum, and where a platform sits decides what your agency can actually do with the controllers it already owns. There are three broad levels.
Centracs operates at the deepest tier, and now reaches all the way to direct, device level access, so it meets every controller in your field where it is. Most platforms reach only one level. That range is the difference between polling a mixed field and running it.
Compatibility We Test, Not Assume
Controller firmware varies by version and configuration. Before any deployment, Centracs verifies firmware compliance through direct testing in the database editor. For agencies, that means interoperability you can plan a project around, not a spec sheet claim you discover the limits of in the field.
